The El Segundo Auxiliary CHLA donates all the proceeds our events to the Associate & Affiliates projects at CHLA. There are 26 associate groups working to fund these projects. Once they are fully funded, CHLA choses new projects that enhance the research and/or care of the patients and their families for which CHLA is known.
Our current projects are:
Associates Chair in Ophthalmology
The Vision Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is an international referral center for children with eye disorders and is the only program of its kind in the United States with expertise in nearly every pediatric ophthalmologic subspecialty. Using the latest medical diagnostic protocols, surgical treatments and research discoveries, the team’s experts focus on treating patients as quickly as possible since timely care is often the single greatest determining factor for preserving a child’s eyesight. As one of the most comprehensive pediatric vision programs in the country, the Vision Center is also one of the busiest—more than 22,000 patient visits and 1,200 surgeries are performed every year.
Thomas C. Lee, MD, is Director of the Vision Center and Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. A renowned pediatric retina surgeon who has made significant advances in the medical community’s understanding of pediatric retinal disorders, Dr. Lee oversees the growth of the Center’s clinical services, research enterprise, educational programs and community partnerships.
Associates Chair in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine
The Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles specializes in congenital, inherited and acquired disorders of the lungs and respiratory system, along with the full range of sleep disorders. This exceptional level of care leads to better outcomes for young patients and has been recognized on U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of Best Children’s Hospitals.
Led by Sally L. Davidson Ward, MD, the Division delivers multidisciplinary care to children with complex conditions including asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic lung diseases of infancy, neuromuscular respiratory weakness and rare lung conditions.
